Register for NSSF in Kenya: Step By Step
1. Requirements for Registration
Before you start, ensure you have these details ready:
- National ID Number (or Passport/Alien ID).
- KRA PIN.
- Personal Details (Full name, Date of Birth, and Parent’s names).
- Employment Details (If applicable).
- Phone Number and Email Address.
2. Register Online (NSSF Self-Service)
The NSSF Self-Service portal allows you to “pre-register” before visiting a branch for final activation.
- Visit the NSSF Self-Service Portal.
- Click on “Member Registration”.
- Fill in the online form with your personal and contact information.
- Click “Save” to submit.
- Important: Print the application notification that appears on the screen. Take this to any NSSF branch to get your official NSSF card and PIN key.
3. Register via eCitizen
You can now access NSSF services directly through your unified eCitizen account.
- Log in to ecitizen.go.ke.
- Search for “National Social Security Fund” in the list of agencies.
- Select “Member Registration.”

4. Register via USSD (Mobile)

5. Voluntary Contributions
